A special operation in Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati has arrested two women with 18 liters of brewed liquor. They were arrested from the Kazipara CNG stand area of ​​the upazila at 1:45 pm on Saturday (May 9).
The arrested are Khadija Akhter of Chittagong Metropolitan Area and Tania Akhter of Joygachi Village of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila.
The raid was conducted by a joint force led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Akhter Hossain of the police station. The matter was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station SM Saker.
Police said that 18 liters of brewed liquor were recovered after searching a black bag belonging to the two suspected women. Initial interrogation revealed that they were carrying the liquor for the purpose of smuggling.
A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act in this incident. The arrested will be sent to the Rangamati court on Sunday morning, police said.
Police claim that such operations will continue as the anti-drug campaign is strong.
