The murder of a wife, three children and brother-in-law in a rented house in Kapasia, Gazipur has created a huge sensation in the area. Police have recovered copies of the same charge sheet typed on a computer on five bodies from the scene. The recovered charge sheet has made sensational claims against the deceased wife for extramarital affairs and embezzling Tk 10 lakh earned by her husband.
On Saturday (May 9) morning, the police recovered the bodies from a house of an expatriate in Rautkona area of Kapasia upazila.
The deceased are accused Forkan Mia’s wife Sharmin Khanam (35), their three daughters Mim (16), Maria (8) and Faria (2) and brother-in-law Rasul (22). Accused Forkan Mia (40) is the son of Atiyar Rahman Mollah of Meri Gopinathpur village in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj district.
Police said that a copy of the written complaint was kept on each body. In the complaint letter written to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, Forkan alleged that his wife Sharmin had stolen 10 lakh taka of her husband’s earnings and bought land in her father’s house. It was also mentioned that Sharmin was having an extramarital affair with a cousin named Raju.
The complaint further claimed that on May 3, Sharmin and her lover, along with the in-laws, tied Forkan’s hands and feet in a room and beat and physically tortured him.
Witnesses said that the scene was very horrific. The bodies of the three children with their throats slit were lying side by side on the floor of the room. The body of Sharmin’s brother Rasul was on the bed. On the other hand, Sharmin’s body, with its hands and face tied, was seen lying next to the window.
According to police and local sources, Forkan Mia was staying with his family in the house of expatriate Monir Hossain. All the family members were seen normally on Friday night as well. However, on Saturday morning, locals suddenly found the bodies of five people with their throats slit and informed the police.
Kapasia Police Station OC Shahinur Alam said that Forkan Mia had rented the house about a year ago. Initial investigation suggests that Forkan Mia committed the murder himself and fled due to a family dispute.
Gazipur District Police Additional Superintendent of Police (Kaliganj Circle) Md. Asaduzzaman said that copies of the computer-typed complaint were found on all five bodies. We are verifying whether it was submitted to Gopalganj Police Station or whether it was just a note. The entire matter is under investigation.
According to local sources, Forkan Mia used to live in the house with his family. The brutal murder took place sometime during the night on Friday (May 8). In the morning, the neighbors, after not receiving any response from the house for a long time, peeked in and saw the bloody bodies and informed the police. However, the accused Forkan Mia has been absconding since the incident.
The deceased Sharmin Khanam is the daughter of Md. Shahadat Molya of Paikandi village in Gopalganj Sadar upazila. Upon receiving the news, the relatives of the deceased left for Gazipur. The police have sent the bodies to the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
