Child dies over sharing of father’s gambling money

A second-grade student of a madrasa was allegedly drowned in a pond in Zaminpur village of Banshati union in Muktagachha, Mymensingh, over a dispute over sharing of online gambling money. His name is Andalif Adnan Rafi. He is a second-grade student of Residential Model Madrasa in Muktagachha town and the son of Zahirul Islam of Zaminpur village.

His body was recovered on Saturday (May 9) afternoon.

Rafi went missing on Friday, May 8. A day after his disappearance, his body was recovered from inside a toilet tank on Saturday afternoon, wrapped in a sack. A person named Khokon has been arrested by Muktagachha police station on charges of involvement in the incident.
According to police and local sources, Zahirul of Jaminpur village in Langulia, Banshati union of Muktagachha upazila, had a dispute with Khokon Mia of the same area over the sharing of online gambling money. In this dispute, on Friday evening, Zahirul’s son, Andalif Rahman Rafi, a second-grade student of the madrasa, was called from his house by Khokon Mia, promising to give him a bird’s nest. Since then, Rafi has not been found by his family. On Saturday afternoon, when suspicions arose about Khokon, the family members found Rafi’s body wrapped in a sack inside the earthen tank of Khokon’s house. Later, Muktagachha police recovered his body from there. Confirming the truth of the incident, Muktagachha police station OC Kamrul Islam said, initially it is believed that the child was drowned in water and then his body was stuffed in a sack and hidden inside the tank of the toilet. The police have arrested Khokon Mia on charges of involvement in this incident. He is being jinxed, more details will be known later.
