After the issuance of an arrest warrant in a defamation case, Mufti Amir Hamza, MP from Kushtia-3 (Sadar) constituency and Islamic speaker, has applied for anticipatory bail in the High Court. For this, he appeared in person at the High Court.

Amir Hamza came to the court this Monday (April 27) morning. A hearing on this bail application is scheduled to be held in a double bench of the High Court.

On April 21, the court issued an arrest warrant against Amir Hamza in a case filed against him for making defamatory comments about Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku.

The judge of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Sirajganj ordered this. Earlier, he was summoned to appear in court. However, the judge ordered an arrest warrant against him as he did not appear in court on the scheduled date.

On April 2, Humayun Kabir, Additional Public Prosecutor of the Sirajganj District Sessions and Judge Court and General Secretary of the District Bar Association, filed the case as the plaintiff.
