Road dispute in Srimangal: 1 injured in attack by opponents

A person named Emdadul Haque Chowdhury Ziadul was seriously injured in an attack by opponents in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, due to a road dispute. The incident took place on April 21 (Wednesday) in Rajpara Chakgaon area of ​​Bhunbir Union of Srimangal Upazila. In this incident, the elder brother of the injured, Sadrul Haque Chowdhury, has filed a written complaint with Srimangal Police Station, naming 3 people. The accused are Saifur Rahman (45), Lutfur Rahman (40), and Ziaur Rahman, son of the deceased Sijil Mia of Rajpara Chakgaon village of Bhunbir Union, and 3/4 other unidentified people. The written complaint says that 15/20 families of the village blocked the road for a few days after the opponents claimed their land. Finally, the local elders determined the exact boundaries of the road through a surveyor and decided to meet again on April 22 to discuss the matter. But the defendants disobeyed the decision and attacked them with country-made weapons on Tuesday (April 21) with the intention of killing them and seriously injured them. When they kept screaming, the people around them came forward and rescued my brother Emdadul Haque Chowdhury from the clutches of the defendants. When the attackers continued to attack them again with country-made weapons, the injured people were helpless and called the National Emergency Service 999, and the Srimangal Police arrived at the scene. In the presence of the police, Emdadul Haque Chowdhury and his family were taken to the Srimangal Upazila Health Complex. He is currently admitted to the Srimangal Upazila Health Complex in a seriously injured condition. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury Ziadul, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital, said – Saifur Rahman, Lutfur Rahman and Ziaur Rahman used country-made weapons to cut my head, hands and various parts of my body, causing bloody injuries. I want a fair trial in this incident. In this regard, accused Saifur Rahman said, we have an ongoing dispute with the plaintiff over the road. The plaintiff is our uncle. However, today’s incident is a trivial incident. The beating incident is not true. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srimangal Police Station Sheikh Zahirul Islam Munna said, the brother of the injured person has filed a written complaint in this incident, naming three people as the plaintiff. The matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
