Like the rest of the country, Bengali New Year-1433 is being celebrated in Lalmonirhat with various arrangements.
On the morning of the first Baishakh, a colorful Baisakhi procession was organized by the Lalmonirhat District Administration from the Collectorate Ground of the city. The procession circled the main roads of the city and ended at the Railway Muktamancha.
With banners, placards, Bengali decorations in various colors and musical instruments like dhak-dhol, the procession became lively and festive.
Later, a Baisakhi cultural program was held at the Railway Muktamancha. Local artists performed songs, dances, recitations, bhavaiya and folk songs. At the end of the program, prizes were distributed among the participating artists and cultural workers.
On this day, a day-long folk fair and the Zilla Parishad organized a traditional Bengali Panta Bhat for everyone at the Railway Mukta Mancha ground.
Meanwhile, Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Muh Rashedul Haque Pradhan, Zilla Parishad Administrator AKM Mominul Haque, District Police Superintendent Md. Asaduzzaman, Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdul Hakim, Municipal Administrator Rajib Ahsan and heads of various government departments of the district were present in the Baisakhi procession.
In addition, students of various educational institutions, leaders of cultural organizations, men and women of all walks of life, children and adolescents, and young people participated in a festive atmosphere.
