Lalmonirhat border, Bangladeshi injured BSF firing at Indian citizen detained in protest

SB-Sujon, Lalmonirhat : A Bangladeshi farmer named Mizan (25) was seriously injured in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while cutting grass at the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat. When the news spread, angry Bangladeshis caught an Indian citizen from the border area.
The incident took place at around 10:30 am on Monday (April 6) at the Rahmatpur border in Patgram union of the upazila.
The injured Mizanur Rahman is the son of Mofizul Islam of Rahmatpur village in that union. And the name of the detained Indian citizen is Shri Sadhan Barman.
Police and locals said that on Monday (April 6) morning, Mizanur went to cut grass for cow fodder in a corn field near the border.  At that time, BSF members patrolling the Sarkarpara camp of Mekhliganj police station in Indian Cooch Behar district fired several rounds of rubber bullets at him. One of the bullets hit Mizan’s body and he fell to the ground. Hearing the sound of gunfire, the locals quickly went to the spot and rescued him and first took him to Patgram Upazila Health Complex. When his condition deteriorated there, he was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, the locals of the border area, angered by the shooting incident, caught an Indian citizen named Shri Sadhan Barman from the border area along with two cows. Since then, fear and panic have prevailed among the residents of the border area.
Patgram police station OC Nazmul Haque said that a Bangladeshi youth was injured in BSF firing while he was cutting grass at the border. Angry at this, the locals arrested an Indian citizen. We have come to know that BGB members went to the spot and quickly took the Indian citizen who was detained by the mob into custody.
He also said that preparations are underway for a flag meeting between the border guards of the two countries in this incident. BGB has intensified patrols to control the situation.
No comment was received from the BGB on the incident.
