 An auto-rickshaw driver named Manik Mia (45) was stabbed to death by miscreants in Muktagachha, Mymensingh. The incident took place on Thursday (March 26) at around 9 pm on the eastern side of Vitibari Bazar in Kheruajani Union of the upazila. The deceased Manik Mia is the son of Hazrat Ali of Basna village in Baliyan Union of the nearby Fulbaria Upazila. According to local and eyewitness sources, the miscreants stabbed Manik in the chest, stomach and hand while passing through the area at night and fled. A van driver named Ziaur saw him lying on the road in a bloody state and started screaming, so the locals came forward. Later, he was rescued and first taken to Muktagachha Upazila Health Complex. When his condition deteriorated there, the doctor on duty transferred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Later, the deceased’s cousin Farhad confirmed that he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. After receiving the news, Muktagachha Police Station visited the scene at night. In this regard, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muktagachha Police Station said that police were sent to the spot immediately after receiving the news. The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy and legal proceedings are ongoing in the murder case.
