War Criminals Have Desecrated the National Martyrs’ Memorial : Momin Mahadi

Momin Mahadi, Chairman of Natundhara Bangladesh NDB, said that taking advantage of the deception called “36 July,” anti-independence forces and war criminals have desecrated the National Martyrs’ Memorial after 55 years of independence. He made this statement while speaking to journalists after paying tribute at the National Martyrs’ Memorial on the morning of March 26.

He further said that the harsh reality is that some individuals posing as students—originally affiliated with Chhatra League—deceived the nation in July. Later, they re-emerged identifying themselves as leaders of various organizations such as Chhatra Shibir, Chhatra Shakti, and Chhatra Odhikar, eventually forming new political parties, obtaining registration, and forming alliances with Jamaat, a party opposed to independence and associated with war crimes. With the backing of domestic and foreign conspirators, these anti-independence groups managed to secure 74 seats in parliament. Not only that, once in parliament, they claimed, “Where there is July, there is no need for the history of the Liberation War.” In this situation, we demand the cancellation of registration of these anti-state parties, as well as exemplary punishment for crimes committed against the people in 1971 and 2024.

Earlier, at the National Martyrs’ Memorial, Natundhara Bangladesh NDB Chairman and columnist Momin Mahadi, Presidium Member and freedom fighter Fazlul Haque, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farjana, Acting Secretary General Kazi Munni Alam, Joint Secretary General Wazed Rana, and others prayed for the eternal peace of the souls of the three million martyrs of the Liberation War and paid their respects.

At the event, the leaders demanded justice for genocide perpetrators and called for the cancellation of registration of each party within the 11-party alliance, including Jamaat-NCP, for their anti-independence activities. They further stated that anti-independence forces and their supporters in Bangladesh have been striving to come to power through conspiracies, allegedly aided by individuals like Yunus. According to them, the July movement was carried out with the sole aim of gaining power, during which public harm was inflicted, police stations were set on fire, and police officers were killed. These actions, they said, prove that under the guise of students, anti-independence elements will continue to carry out destructive activities to undermine peace, prosperity, and unity in the country.
