Azad Hossain : The nation is celebrating Independence and National Day with profound respect and solemnity, marked by a state ceremony at the National Martyr’s Memorial in Savar earlier today.
​President Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the nation in honoring the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Liberation War.
​State Honors and Solemnity
​As dawn broke, the President and the Prime Minister placed floral wreaths at the altar of the National Memorial. Following the offering, they stood in solemn silence for a period as a mark of profound respect for the martyrs.
​During the ceremony:
​A smartly turned-out contingent from the Bangladesh Armed Forces offered a guard of honor.
​The bugle played a melancholic tune in remembrance of the fallen heroes.
​Both leaders offered Fateha and special prayers (Munajat), seeking eternal peace for the departed souls.
​High-Level Attendance
​The ceremony was attended by members of the Cabinet, the chiefs of the three services, and high-ranking military and civil officials.
​The event was organized and meticulously supervised by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. Following the completion of the formal state rituals, the memorial premises were opened to the general public, allowing thousands to pay their own respects to the architects of the nation’s independence
