Mymensingh Volunteer Party leader in jail in dowry case

Inteharul Karim alias Tipu Sultan (33), an expelled Volunteer Party leader in Nandail, Mymensingh, has been arrested in a dowry case. His wife Jannatul Ferdous Bithi (24) filed this dowry case with Nandail Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act as the plaintiff.

On Sunday (March 8) afternoon, the Nandail Police Station sent the accused to the Mymensingh Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in the related case.

The accused, Inteharul Karim alias Tipu Sultan, a follower of District North BNP member Mamun Bin Mannan, was the member secretary of Nandail Upazila Volunteer Party. However, he was expelled for engaging in anti-discipline activities of the organization in the last 13th National Parliament election.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandail Police Station Md. Al Amin confirmed the truth of the matter. He said that the plaintiff filed a case with the police station on March 6 on the charge of beating his wife for demanding 5 lakh taka as dowry. In that case, the accused Inteharul Karim alias Tipu Sultan was arrested from his home last night and sent to the court.

The OC also said that apart from Tipu Sultan, 3 more people have been accused in the case. An arrest drive is underway against them as well.
