Indian High Commission holds Iftar Mahfil in Dhaka: Wishing friendship and prosperity for both countries

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma (Saturday) hosted an Iftar Mahfil in the capital Dhaka on March 7, 2026. Ministers of the Bangladesh government, high-ranking officials and eminent persons from various walks of life were present at the event.
In his welcome address to the invited guests at the Iftar event, High Commissioner Pranay Verma extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasized the existing friendly relations and strong social and family ties between India and Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner said that the relations between the two countries are fundamentally people-centric, the foundation of which was laid through joint sacrifices during the great Liberation War of 1971.
He noted that India and Bangladesh, as two ambitious and progressive societies, stand on the threshold of a new future. By working together, both countries can bring shared prosperity to the entire region.

He reiterated India’s unwavering support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh.

He described the spontaneous presence of a large number of guests from different walks of life in Bangladesh at the Iftar as a joint commitment to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Guests present:

The event was attended by representatives of the Bangladesh government, leaders of various political parties, senior officers of the armed forces, business representatives, prominent figures from civil society, media personnel, academicians, thinkers and representatives of cultural organizations. Special prayers were offered before the Iftar for the well-being of the country and the nation.
