Political analysts, intellectuals, civil society members, senior journalists , central and grassroots-level political leaders believe that if the people of Pirojpur—especially those of the Pirojpur-1 constituency—give former General Secretary and Convener of Pirojpur District BNP, Principal Alamgir Hossain, the respect he deserves, then in the event of a BNP-led government, he will hold an important position. This would be extraordinarily good news for the people of Pirojpur.

For his sacrifices for the party, tireless efforts, and leadership in building a well-organized and well-planned district BNP, Alamgir Hossain—an accomplished son of Pirojpur—stands in the front row of leadership and is expected to hold a significant government post. From student politics to central leadership, and finally receiving party nomination—these developments signal advance good news of major gains for the people of Pirojpur. Therefore, considering the demands of the time and their own development, it is now the responsibility of everyone in Pirojpur-1, regardless of party, religion, or caste, to ensure Alamgir Hossain’s victory and see him sworn in with honor.

Leaders must deeply reflect on this issue, and voters must thoughtfully apply this understanding at the ballot box. In voters’ planning, Alamgir Hossain must be placed at the center.

Pirojpur-1 is a very important constituency in Bangladesh. That is why BNP has chosen a well-educated, senior, tested, self-sacrificing, widely acceptable, clean-image, people-friendly leader and has given him the opportunity to compete in the election. If Alamgir Hossain is elected as a Member of Parliament, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman will uphold the dignity of the votes cast by the people of Pirojpur-1.

According to political analysts, Pirojpur is a strategically important region in the southern part of the country due to its position between two administrative divisions. Therefore, if BNP forms the government, there remains a strong possibility that the victorious candidate of this challenging and important constituency will be rewarded with a significant role.

When BNP formed the government in 2001, development reached Pirojpur as it did across the country. During the early phase of the visionary political initiatives aimed at implementing the ideals and dreams of Shaheed Zia through the leadership of young Tarique Rahman, Alamgir Hossain worked to the fullest under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.

In 2002, when young Tarique Rahman traveled across remote areas of Bangladesh with a massive campaign to spread the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to the grassroots and transform the youth into the driving force for building a prosperous Bangladesh, Alamgir Hossain—along with other leaders—went door to door across this region, delivering the message of development. He successfully explained to the youth their vital role in education, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure development, especially in Pirojpur.

He also worked tirelessly for infrastructural development of schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical institutions, as well as improving teachers’ standards, in Pirojpur, Nazirpur, and Indurkani.

Through a platform called “Harmony Is My Commitment,” his visionary thinking was reflected in pledges related to education, healthcare, agriculture, communication, information technology, safe and livable Pirojpur for all, and creating new dimensions of employment.

Alongside this, he played a notable role in constructing rural roads. Through the Local Government Engineering Department, he directly contributed to improving rural road infrastructure. At a time when people had to wade through knee-deep mud and students struggled to reach educational institutions due to poor communication, leading to rising dropout rates, he conveyed this reality to then Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and demanded development for the marginal areas of Pirojpur. Although the seat was allocated to an alliance partner at that time, Alamgir Hossain continued working tirelessly for the people of this constituency.

He also played a significant role in housing projects for landless, homeless, and river erosion–affected impoverished families.

From January 2005, for three consecutive months, when Tarique Rahman organized “Union Representative Conferences” across the country and successfully created new momentum within the party, Alamgir Hossain wholeheartedly supported and worked closely as his shadow companion. By deeply engaging with grassroots people across all 53 unions of Pirojpur’s seven upazilas, he coordinated representatives, communicated Tarique Rahman’s mission and vision, and carried out political activities with indomitable spirit. His motivation helped keep BNP activists energized for nearly 16 years when the party later went into opposition. His political foresight further increased his popularity among grassroots leaders and opened opportunities for central leadership.

Tarique Rahman believed that every BNP activist could contribute to running the party and the country if provided with proper guidance and skilled leadership. His innovative political thinking and implementation programs were widely praised and added a new dimension to politics, even drawing attention from opposition parties. Alamgir Hossain worked alongside him in these initiatives while continuing efforts for Pirojpur’s development. As a result, infrastructure and agricultural development in the region progressed.

Beyond politics, Alamgir Hossain—coming from a prestigious family—worked passionately for society and his district. He could have lived a life of luxury, as he was the son of a successful businessman, Alhaj Abdus Sobahan, who was also deeply involved in social service. Yet, driven by social responsibility, he founded Tejdasakathi Degree College at a time when rural students could not afford to study in cities.

To uphold his father’s noble legacy, he joined the college as a teacher and personally contributed to educating countless rural students in higher education. Many of his students now serve in high-level positions both at home and abroad.

Despite being highly educated and capable of becoming a top executive, successful entrepreneur, industrialist, or pursuing higher degrees abroad, he chose teaching for the sake of children from remote villages of Pirojpur.

From student politics to being treated as a family member of the Shaheed Zia family, Begum Khaleda Zia always sheltered him with motherly affection. The slogan “My leader is my mother” originated from an emotional speech Alamgir Hossain delivered in Pirojpur, where he said, “Begum Khaleda Zia is not only my leader—she is my mother,” a fact many of today’s generation are unaware of.

Guided by the ideals and foresight of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and the people-oriented politics of Begum Khaleda Zia, Alamgir Hossain became a trusted and family-friendly figure among teachers, farmers, fishermen, laborers, and people from all walks of life in Pirojpur. Jail, oppression, and persecution never broke him. Even during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and floods, he went door to door to help people within his capacity.

His tendency to stand by people in times of hardship made him a popular figure among party members and local residents. He truly understood the meaning of “civilized resistance through wisdom.” His belief that politics is not about violence, but about walking together in unity, made him more dynamic and acceptable to the central leadership.

Therefore, considering all aspects, it becomes evident that if Principal Alamgir Hossain is elected as an MP, the people of Pirojpur will receive far more than they could ever imagine.
