A human chain and protest march have been held in Rajbari’s Pansha to demand the immediate arrest of the murderers involved in the murder of young man Alim Khan due to extramarital affairs and the maximum punishment of hanging.
On Tuesday (December 23), at 10:30 am, locals and relatives of the deceased held a human chain program in front of the house of the deceased Alim Khan in the Char Durlavhdia area of Ward No. 1 of Pansha Municipality. Later, a protest march took out from there and circled the main road of Pansha Dargatla and Puratan Bazar before ending the program with a human chain. Hundreds of villagers, family members of the deceased and locals participated in the event.
The speakers at the human chain said, “Alim Khan was brutally murdered in a planned manner. All the accused involved in this murder must be arrested quickly and hanged as an exemplary punishment.” They also said that the administration must play a strict role to ensure speedy justice without delay.
It is worth noting that Alim Khan went missing from his home on December 15 after going to work in Dhaka. The next day, on December 16, the police recovered his body from the Srinivasadi area of Araihazar police station in Narayanganj. The father of the deceased filed a murder case with Araihazar police station on December 18.
The Narayanganj District Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said that the initial investigation has found information about the involvement of extramarital affairs in the murder. In this incident, Md. Ruhul Amin alias Rabbi was arrested from the Madhya Badda area of Dhaka on the night of December 19. According to the PBI, Alim Khan was deliberately called to Narayanganj and killed.
The PBI further said that several others may be involved in this murder. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest them and the investigation into the case is ongoing. Meanwhile, the participants in the human chain sought strict intervention from the administration, demanding speedy trial and exemplary punishment. In this regard, Pangsha Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mainul Islam said that since the incident took place in Narayanganj’s Araihazar Police Station, they are the ones who are watching it. When asked about the human chain, he said, “I have come to know that a human chain is being held in my police station area.”
