SB-Sujon, Lalmonirhat : Police have arrested 5 leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and Sramik League in Lalmonirhat.
On Wednesday (November 12), based on secret information, these Awami League leaders and activists were arrested from different areas of 5 upazilas in a special operation by Lalmonirhat District Police.
Police said that Abu Said Basunia (48), an active member of the banned Awami League’s Hatibandha upazila branch and son of A. Jabbar of Privba Fakirpara village in that upazila, Azizul Islam (48), son of Kapil Uddin of Uttar Ghaneshyam village, general secretary of the Kaliganj upazila branch of the Sramik League, Alamgir Hossain (37), son of Abdar Rahman of Barogharia village in Aditmari upazila, Alamgir Hossain (37), an active member of the Harati Union Jubo League of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila and son of the deceased A. Jabbar of Namuri Harati village, and Sirajul Islam alias Sera (40), an active member of the Jubo League of Mahendranagar Union of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila and son of Majidul Islam of Hardatta village, have been arrested.
Police conducted a special operation to arrest them as they were accused of various crimes, including murder cases.
The arrested have been sent to jail through the court.
Lalmonirhat District Police Superintendent Md. Tariqul Islam confirmed this information and said, whoever the culprit is, they will be arrested under the law.
