A four-year-old child has died after being bitten by a poisonous bolta (Bengal) fly in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. The deceased child’s name is Tamim, he is the son of Meherul Islam of Julaipara village of Shibpur union of the upazila.
He fell seriously ill due to a bolta bite on Wednesday (October 1) morning and was taken to a local pharmacy. However, when his condition deteriorated, he was brought to the Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex at around 2 pm and the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Upazila Health Complex doctor Dr. Md. Saddam Hossain said that the child could have been saved if he had been brought to the hospital immediately. He advised to seek immediate treatment in cases of bites from such poisonous insects or animals. At the same time, he urged everyone to be aware of this issue.
