Pabna Road Accident Truck Driver Killed

A truck driver named Selim Hossain (38) was killed in a bus-truck collision on the Pabna Bypass Highway. Two other helpers were injured in the accident.

The accident occurred in front of Yakub Filling Station on the Pabna Bypass Highway at around 4:30 am on Tuesday (June 17).

The deceased truck driver Selim Hossain is the son of the deceased Abdul Gani of Saharbati village in Gangni upazila of Meherpur. The injured are bus helper Tarek (35) and truck helper Alamin (35). They have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam confirmed this information.

Police and locals said that truck driver Selim was going to Mawa from Sunamganj after loading stones. On the other hand, the Pabna Express bus, which was travelling from Dhaka to Pabna Bus Terminal to drop off passengers and garage the helper Alamin’s car, was speeding and collided head-on with a truck when it reached Yakub Pleas Filling Station.

When local people informed the fire service, a fire service team rescued the three injured and took them to the 250-bed Pabna General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared the truck driver Selim dead.

The condition of the injured truck helper and the bus helper was critical, so they were transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam said that after receiving the information, the police recovered the bodies of the deceased and kept them in the custody of the Sadar Police Station. The truck and bus involved in the accident have been seized. No one has filed a complaint in the incident. Further legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.
