Leaders of Goalanda Upazila, Municipality, and BNP affiliates and associate organizations have claimed that the joint meeting organized in Goalanda, Rajbari using the name of BNP is illegal and unconstitutional.
The press conference was held at the Goalanda Upazila BNP office on Tuesday at 11 am. Earlier, on Monday (June 16), a ‘joint meeting of upazila and municipal BNP’ was held at the Goalanda Community Center under the leadership of Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, former MP of Rajbari-1 constituency and member of the BNP’s national executive committee. However, the current authorized BNP committee says that all those who participated in the meeting are without posts and many have been inactive for a long time. Even people from the Awami League were present at the meeting, the speakers claimed.
Goalanda Upazila BNP President Md. Nizam Sheikh said, “Such a meeting is a violation of the party’s constitution. No one other than the party’s authorized committee has the right to organize such a meeting. Trinamool BNP strongly protests these misdeeds.”
