Sohel Ahad, Brahmanbaria: A truck loaded with gas cylinders overturned in front of BGFCL in Birasa (Comilla-Sylhet Highway).
A truck overturned on the road at 4:30 am on Wednesday and exploded, causing a terrible fire. The flames are still burning. The incident was confirmed by the officer-in-charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Mozaffar Hossain.
Al Amin, a local resident of Birasa, said that due to the poor condition of the road in front of the Bangladesh Gas Field Company School and College gate, the truck loaded with cylinders collided with another truck and overturned. As a result, the truck carrying the cylinders overturned and exploded. The truck loaded with cylinders was burnt to ashes in the explosion.
Gazi Tanvir said that cars often overturn at this place on the Ashuganj Agartala Forelane due to large potholes in the road. Today’s midnight accident has spread panic among the entire locality. Maintaining alternative roads during road development work is also part of the essential work of the contracting company. They have been and are being 100% negligent in this place.
The OC said that each cylinder exploded and rose upwards. He also said that the truck overturned due to the poor condition of the road. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
