“The day’s not far when Bangladesh will ensure security beyond its maritime borders”—Dr. Sakhawat Hossain

Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping and Labor and Employment, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain said that various initiatives have been taken to make the Navy modern and up-to-date, including submarine integration. The plan to involve the Navy in protecting the country’s seaports is on the way to implementation. In addition, the work of creating a comprehensive ‘Port Strategy’ including all ports is also progressing.
He made these remarks while addressing the chief guest at the bootcamp training graduation parade of 463 new sailors of the Bangladesh Navy’s A-2025 batch at the Banauja Sher-e-Bangla Parade Ground in Kalapara, Patuakhali on Sunday morning.
Adviser Dr. Sakhawat Hossain said to the new sailors, “You are and will remain engaged in the service of the motherland. The country’s maritime security is now on your shoulders. The day is not far when we will be able to ensure security beyond the country’s 200 nautical miles of maritime borders.” He also said that through continuous training, the new sailors will achieve professional excellence in the future and will remain steadfast in their determination to protect the country’s sovereignty.
Advisor Dr. Sakhawat Hossain inspected the parade and took the salute. Later, he distributed awards among the new sailors who achieved outstanding results in various subjects.
Among the A-2025 batch, Md. Ghalib Al Mahdi Arnab received the ‘Navy Chief’s Award’ for professional and overall achievements. Md. Hasib Hossain, who secured second place, received the ‘Kamkhul Award’ and Md. Naeem Gazi, who secured third place, received the ‘Sher-e-Bangla Award’.
The closing parade was attended by PSOs of the Navy Headquarters, high-ranking military and civilian officials, dignitaries from Patuakhali, Barisal and Khulna regions, and guardians of the new sailors.
