A training on safe food preparation, serving, storage and awareness was held with stakeholders involved in the food business in Barura Upazila of Comilla.
On Tuesday, May 20, the day-long training workshop was held in the Upazila Parishad meeting room under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong. The chief guest was the Secretary (Joint Secretary) of the Government of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority and Project Director STIRC Project Dhaka Srabanti Roy. The special guests were the Deputy Director of Bangladesh Safe Food Authority and STIRC Project Dhaka Muntasir Hasan, Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Umme Muslima, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Sajedur Rahman, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Nasrin Sultana Tonu, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Zahidul Islam, Upazila Fisheries Officer Suraiya Zaman Nitu, Upazila Food Officer Md. Mobarak Hossain, Upazila Family Planning Officer Roksana Akhter.
Present at the event were Adra Union Parishad Chairman Md. Rakibul Hasan Limon, Bhauksar Union Parishad Chairman Ahmed Jamal Masud, Shakpur Union Parishad Chairman Md. Abdul Khalek Munshi, former Barura Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Commander Bir Muktijoddha Shamsul Haque Sardar, and Bir Muktijoddha Rafiqul Islam Mir. The speakers included General Secretary of Barura Press Club and Barura Upazila Correspondent of Daily Comilla Kagoj, Journalist Md. Ilias Ahmed, Correspondent of Daily Jaya Zaydin, Journalist Md. Masud Majumder, Correspondent of Daily Sangbad, Journalist Salil Biswas, General Secretary of Barura Upazila Press Club and Barura Upazila Correspondent of Daily Manab Zamin, Daily Titolar, Journalist Md. Ikramul Haque, General Secretary of Barura Thana Press Club and Correspondent of Daily Desh Rupantor, Journalist Sujan Majumder, Owner of Red Wing Restaurant, Mohammad Noman, Owner of Ruchi Bilash Restaurant, Md. Khorshed Alam, Owner of Super Star Hotel and Restaurant, Md. Abdul Quddus, Owner of German Hotel and Restaurant, Md. Rezaul Karim Molla, Owner of Nishchintapur Molla Khamar, and others.
On this day, various restaurants, hotels, food preparation establishments, farms and farmers in Barura Upazila were provided with advice and training on safe food preparation, serving and storage.
