Habibur Rahman, Kushtia District District Representative: In order to transform the village into a city in Alauddin Nagar of Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia district, the cultural capital, the construction of the largest residential and commercial multi-dimensional building in the district has been inaugurated on the model of the Hazar Duari Manzil in Murshidabad, India, a historical monument of Bengal’s history. On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Hazar Duari Bhaban was inaugurated at the initiative of Alauddin Ahmed Foundation at Alauddin Nagar Bazar in Kumarkhali Upazila. The building was inaugurated by the chairman of the country’s renowned pharmaceutical company “Health Care Pharmaceutical” and the founding president of Alauddin Ahmed Foundation, Danbir Dr. Alauddin Ahmed. Tariqul Islam, engineer of the Hazar Duari project, said that the Hazar Duari project is being constructed on the theme of the Hazar Duari Manzil in Murshidabad, India, a historical monument of Bengal’s history. The project was designed by the Principal Architect. The building will be a 9-storey residential and commercial building, with a length of 650 feet and a width of 65 feet. It will be the largest commercial and residential building in Kushtia district. More than 400 commercial shops will be built in the building up to three floors and 120 residential flats will be built from the fourth to the ninth floor. He said that these will be allocated to the common people at a low price. There will also be a helipad on the roof and a car parking facility in the basement.
After the inauguration of the construction of the “Hazar Duari” building, Dr. Alauddin Ahmed told the correspondent, “Allah Almighty has given me the opportunity to do some good work for the people. To reduce the pressure on the city and the suffering of the people by converting the village into a city, all the facilities of the district city and the capital Dhaka will be in the Hazar Duari building. The shops in this building will be allocated to small entrepreneurs and businessmen at a low price, and the flats will be allocated to low-income people at a low price. So that low-income people also get a flat or a place to live. The inauguration ceremony was attended by “Hazar Duari” project engineers Tariqul Islam, Gazi Mainul Tarek, project contractor Murad Hossain, journalists and local dignitaries.
After the inauguration, Maulana Atiyar Rahman, the Khatib of Baharul Ulum Jame Mosque, led prayers for the “Hazar Duari” project and the well-being of the country.
