Delwar Hossain said, Journalist Protection and Welfare Foundation is a non-political, non-profit, voluntary journalist organization, the organization is committed to playing an important role in protecting the rights of journalists at different levels, training them, and improving professional standards based on the extensive participation of the larger journalist community. An exceptional organization of journalists in Bangladesh, it said about its goals and objectives:
1. If any helpless journalist dies, the foundation will bear the entire cost of his burial. The deceased journalist’s family will be given a one-time grant of 10,000 to 50,000 taka. If the children of his family are young, the foundation will bear the responsibility of their education. If his sons and daughters are old and inactive, they will be provided with employment.
2. Arrangements will be made to open training centers in each district to train journalists.
3) Arrangements will be made to set up hospitals for journalists in the departments.
4) Arrangements will be made to set up a school and a madrasah for journalists in each district town.
5) Arrangements will be made for tailoring, computer, handicap, recipe, online marketing, outsourcing training for girl journalists.
6) Arrangements will be made to appoint three advocates in each district for legal assistance.
7) Arrangements will be made to appoint three doctors at the district and police station levels.
8) Arrangements will be made for the rehabilitation of released journalists.
9) Necessary measures will be taken for more facilities including long road cars, entertainment centers, toll plazas, airplanes, lawns, trains, metrorails and other facilities in each district.
10) To arrange for better training for the socio-economic development of journalists and improvement of the quality of their profession. If necessary, to send them abroad for higher education. To send journalist representatives to various regional and international conferences and training.
