Sylhet Correpondent : A brother-in-law and sister-in-law are contesting for the councilman positions in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Hemtramic City, Michigan, in the United States. Both of them are Bangladeshis. Their village is in Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar district. The two are Sohel Ahmed and Mahfuzur Rahman. It is known that Sohel, who is involved in various social activities in Atlantic City, New Jersey, which is populated by expatriate Bangladeshis, has contested elections before. The results were a disaster for a short time. This time, he is contesting for the Council at Large position as a Democrat in the running mayor’s panel. The elections in that city are scheduled to be held on June 10. That is why there is enthusiasm and enthusiasm. The aforementioned Sohel is leading several social organizations in the state of New Jersey. In a response, Sohel said, “I want to speak on behalf of the expatriates in the city. This is my fight to represent Bangladesh.” Meanwhile, Mahfuz, who has been living in America for the past 11-12 years, is involved in several social organizations in the country’s expatriate community, both online and offline. He is working on various platforms for humanitarian causes. He will contest the August 5 primary election for the post of councilman in Hemtramck, a city of Bangladeshi Arab and Polish Americans in Michigan. He is also leading the media workers there. His personal assistant Shahjahan Hitler confirmed his candidacy. Mahfuz is the founding president of the Rotaract Club of Sylhet New City and the Rotaract Club of New York Queens, as well as the president of the US Bangla Online Press Club. He is also particularly involved with several organizations and institutions in Michigan. In addition to his postal job, he is also serving the common people of the community. In a response, Mahfuz said, “I want to work to ensure safety, education, and social services, including high-quality health care, a clean and safe environment for the people of Michigan and the surrounding area.”
