Locals have formed a human chain and protested demanding the removal of Bishwambharpur Upazila Executive Officer in Sunamganj.
This human chain program was held at 11:30 am on Sunday at the Current Market Boal Chattar under the banner of Bishwambharpur Upazila residents.
Speakers at the human chain said that UNO Mofizur Rahman, who was appointed during the tenure of the fallen government, has destroyed the tourism sector of Bishwambharpur Upazila. He is illegally grabbing crores of taka through various irregularities, arbitrariness and corruption.
After the human chain at Current Market, when they were on their way to the Upazila Parishad premises with a protest procession, they were stopped in front of the Multipurpose Center by leaders and activists of various BNP affiliates. At that time, they attacked with sticks and country-made weapons. Later, a chase took place between the two sides. At that time, the attackers rushed towards the journalists and tried to snatch the cameras.
Upazila BNP convener Raju Ahmed said that the Awami League supporters wanted to create chaos in the upazila headquarters with banners of various pseudonyms. BNP workers stopped them. A scuffle occurred at that time. He said that other party leaders were present at the time of the incident except the upazila BNP convener and joint convener.
Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mofizur Rahman said in this regard, smuggling at the border has been brought to zero through various operations. Recently, the Upazila Multipurpose Center was leased. The highest bidder got the lease. Some people, aggrieved by this, tried to create chaos after not getting the lease.
