May Day was celebrated with various events throughout the day in Lalmonirhat under the theme of ‘Workers and employers united, we will rebuild this country’.
A colorful rally and discussion meeting were held on the occasion of May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day. On the occasion of the day, a colorful rally was organized by the District Labor Welfare Center and the district administration from the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday morning and went around the city. After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room. In addition, various labor organizations of the district joined the rally with their respective banners and later everyone gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Then, in the meeting held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner, under the chairmanship of Assistant Director of Regional Labor Department Dinajpur, Md. Mamunur Rashid, Deputy Commissioner HM Rakib Haider delivered the speech as the chief guest. Among others, Deputy Director of Local Government of the District Administration Rajib Ahsan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mahbubur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) GR Sarwar, Additional Superintendent of Police Fazlul Haque, Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdul Hakim and leaders of various labor organizations spoke. Afroza Khatun, Medical Officer of Lalmonirhat Labor Welfare Center, delivered the welcome speech at the meeting.

The meeting was attended by leaders of various labor organizations including representatives of employers and workers.
The discussion focused on the rights of workers, development of employer-labor relations, and creating a safe working environment.
At the meeting, Deputy Commissioner HM Rakib Haider said, “May Day is not just a day, it is a day to realize the fair rights of the working people. With the joint efforts of the employers and workers, we can build a developed and humane Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, a colorful rally organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Workers’ Party from the district workers’ party office circled the city. Later, it ended with a discussion meeting at the district’s Mission More. District BNP President and BNP Executive Committee Organizing Secretary Principal Asadul Habib Dulu spoke as the chief guest.
Leaders of various labor organizations and workers of Lalmonirhat district, as well as local journalists, were present at the discussion meeting. The program was an open discussion on labor laws and ways to improve employer-labor relations.
