Police have arrested two Awami League leaders in Rajbari for attack on anti-discrimination student movement. They were sent to Rajbari court on Thursday (May 1) afternoon.
The arrested are Muktijoddha Projonmo League Rajbari district branch president Md. Farid Ali Molla (42) and Ward No. 8 general secretary of Pachuria Union Awami League in Sadar Upazila Bishwanath Saha (58).
It is learned that during the anti-discrimination movement, general students of Rajbari Government College and Dr. Abul Hossain University College gathered in Rajbari T&T area around 11:30 am on August 4 to participate in peaceful activities in the anti-discrimination student movement in Rajbari, like all over Bangladesh. They started marching there, then more than a hundred unknown accused, including 44 accused named in the complaint, attacked the protesters with firearms and country-made pistols, revolvers, guns, ramdas, hockey sticks, iron pipes, SS pipes, rods in a pre-planned manner. They started throwing sticks and cocktails and firing, causing general and serious injuries to the students in the protest. Some students were seriously injured in this.
A case was filed at Rajbari Sadar Police Station on August 26 in this incident.
Rajbari Sadar Police Station OC Md. Mahmudur Rahman said that they were arrested from the Urakanda Bazar area of Barat Union in Rajbari Sadar Upazila at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (April 30) as accused of attacking anti-discrimination students. The arrested accused have been sent to court. ‘
