A mango calendar has been released at a meeting on safe mango marketing in Satkhira.
This mango calendar was released at a view-sharing meeting held on this occasion at the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Wednesday (April 30) at 11:30 am!
Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed chaired the meeting on mango marketing. Khamar Bari Satkhira Deputy Director Agriculturist Md. Saiful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bishnupada Pal, Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahin, District Information Officer Jaharul Islam, Satkhira-Sultanpur Barabazar Raw and Ripe Goods Traders Association President Rawshan Ali and General Secretary Alhaj Rajab Ali Khan, along with agricultural officers, mango farmers and traders from seven upazilas of the district were present.
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed unanimously said that Govindabhog and Gopal Bhog can be collected from mango trees on May 5, Himsagar on May 20, Langra on May 27 and Amrapali on June 5. However, due to weather changes, the fixed date can be increased or decreased by 3 days in consultation with the local agricultural officer.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that some unscrupulous traders in the district have tried to ripen unripe Govindabhog mangoes with chemicals and market them. The seized mangoes have already been destroyed and the traders concerned have been fined. And those who pluck unripe mangoes before the stipulated time announced with everyone’s opinion will be brought under the law!
