RAB-11 Crime Prevention Company-3 conducted a raid at Titu’s Honda Garage in Islamganj Bazar, Bajra Union of Sonaimuri Police Station, Noakhali, and recovered an LG and arrested arms dealer and arms dealer Habib Titu. A case has been registered under the Arms Act at Sonaimuri Police Station in this incident. According to the case and RAB sources, on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at approximately 8:10 pm, the RAB-11 Crime Prevention Company-3 conducted a raid in the Sonaimuri Police Station area to uncover the source of various crimes, including the arrest of various criminals, drugs, convicted defendants, rapists, and weapons. Based on a secret information, a raid was conducted at a Honda garage on the east side of the paved road adjacent to Qatar Mosque in Bajra Islamganj Bazar and Habib Titu (28), father- deceased Ruhul Amin, mother- Kanchan Begum, village- Barahinagar (Tailor House) 07 No. Bajra Union, Police Station- Sonaimuri, District- Noakhali, and a country-made LG was recovered from the custody of him.
According to local sources, the arrested Habib Titu was one of the active members of the Zakir Bahini of Sonapur Union No. 8 of the police station area. 4/5 years ago, Zakir, the head of the armed Zakir Bahini, was arrested by RAB and was in jail. While Habib Titu was in jail, he created the position of second-in-command of the local Bajra area’s top terrorist and armed Shahadat Hossain Joni group. Under the guidance of Shahadat Hossain Joni, he created an organized gang with various scoundrels in the area. Basically, the work of this gang is extortion, robbery, robbery, banditry, land grabbing, and kidnapping for ransom. Yusuf Mirza of Bajra village, Saeed Anwar of Barahinagar, son of Raku member, Shahed alias Counter Shahed (against whom there is a robbery case in 2020), Sohel alias Bari Sohel, Shahadat Hossain Joni of Purba Chandpur village (against whom several cases including the murder of Zafar are pending), his brother Shaheduzzaman Akbar alias Tipu, Shakib son of Mamun Contractor, Yasin of Raihan Chakidar house of Molla house. Zahir of Aslam Bepari house of Uttar Rasulpur, Manik Sakerpur son of Jewel Faiz member of Barik Munshi house of Miralipur, Rahat of Mahajan house, Pagla Aziz alias Abdul Aziz of Chhongaon area, Don Shahid of Dighi Par house, etc. There are about 30/35 active members in this armed gang from different areas. For the last 5/6 years, Habib Titu has been selling more than 150 weapons in various areas including Bajra area, Sonapur, Deoti, Amishapara UP areas of the police station area, Narottampur, Miralipur, Apania, Talua Chandpur areas of Gopalpur union of the neighboring Begumganj police station area, etc. The arrested Habib Titu is said to be a Honda mechanic by profession and works as an agent for repairing motorcycles used by armed terrorists in different areas of the district and buying and selling unregistered stolen motorcycles. He has developed close relations with terrorists in different areas of the district, creating a huge network for buying and selling weapons. Habib Titu and Raihan were arrested by the law enforcement agencies with weapons and stolen motorcycles in Sonaimuri police station area 5/6 months ago, but the incident was covered up in the darkness after a compromise of three lakh taka.
Some local influential people are under their patronage. If any of this group encounters any problem or is caught by the law enforcement agencies, they resort to tactics and bribery. Ever since Titu was arrested with weapons, two people named Mohsin Swapan, a brother-in-law of a joint secretary, a grocer in the market, and Mohsin Swapan of Barahingar, have been busy trying to rescue Titu by contacting various people and places on the phone. There are even rumors about them going to the RAB office the next morning. On the night of April 20, based on the news that the law enforcement agencies were conducting a raid on Habib Titru’s garage, Shahadat Hossain Joni, Raihan, and a few of their party members came armed to the Islamganj Bazar Bridge on motorcycles and retreated after hearing about the raid. While collecting information about the gunmen and their sources, several locals raised questions in the discussion, saying that do weapons have eyes and legs? Who walks on his own, sometimes takes up residence in bamboo thickets, cemeteries, canal banks, wooden houses or in a chosen place? Of course, someone carries a weapon and keeps it safe, but later, according to some sources, the law enforcement forces rescue it and show it as abandoned! Although a case has been filed in this regard, the real culprit or the one carrying or keeping the weapon is not identified and brought under the law, so the use and sale of illegal weapons is increasing in the area. On the condition of anonymity, a few local and market traders said that recently on February 8, 2025, in front of the house of Becha Gazi on the Bajra Nateshwar border, the group of people tried to kill the youth leader Mizan in public. Although a case has been filed in this regard, the law enforcement forces have not been able to arrest the identified armed terrorist and recover the weapon used during that incident. Moreover, on April 11, 25, in front of the house of Eshak Bepari in Barahinagar, Shakil, son of a neighboring Faiz member, was shot dead along with Jewel, a member of the same party, and fled to Birdarpa. Although there was a stir in the area, the law enforcement agencies have not yet taken effective steps to arrest the terrorists and recover weapons. Another local source said that for the past few days, Sayeed Anwar, along with Habib Titu, has been seen moving around with some people from outside the area.
