Mosahid Ahmed, Moulvibazar: A human chain, protest and memorandum have been submitted to the District Commissioner demanding the removal of Hafiza Khatun Girls High School Principal Rasheda Begum in Moulvibazar. On Wednesday (April 16) afternoon, teachers, students and guardians of the school organized a one-and-a-half-hour human chain in front of the Moulvibazar Press Club and protested on important roads of the city. After the protest procession, a memorandum was submitted demanding the immediate removal of Headmaster Rasheda Begum and others involved in the misappropriation of school funds, corruption, torture of teachers and students, and taking legal action. The memorandum states that Hafiza Khatun Girls High School Principal Rasheda Begum has been involved in various irregularities and corruption under the umbrella of influential political leaders since joining in 2015. She continued to physically torture students and harass teachers over trivial incidents. In 2017, a student named Munni was tortured so much that the student’s guardian filed a general diary at Moulvibazar Model Police Station in anger. Later, the incident was covered up due to political influence. Shakera physically tortured another student named Akhtar in the same way. Later, she left the school. Khadija Akhtar is currently mentally disturbed after severely torturing a student named Tanni. For minor reasons, she slaps the students on the hands, ears and heads, and even kicks them in various parts of the body. The complaint also mentions that she does not receive her salary online but receives her salary in cash without any receipt. In addition, she appoints incompetent teachers through nepotism in the appointment of part-time teachers on her own authority. All these part-time teachers are almost absent from school. Due to these reasons, the school’s results in various board and internal examinations are gradually declining. They demanded immediate legal action against the headmaster Rasheda and her associates and her immediate removal. The students in the protest chanted various slogans, including the demand for the arrest of part-time teachers Abul Kalam and Abdul Hamid Jewel, who obstructed the human chain and physically tortured the students in public. Teachers, students and guardians of the school were present in the human chain and protest.
