Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the Eid of Sacrifice, is coming on June 7. The main task of Eid-ul-Azha is to sacrifice animals according to one’s ability. In light of this, 94 small and large sacrificial animal markets, including weekly markets, are going to be held in Cox’s Bazar this Eid. Of these, 48 are permanent markets and 46 are on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. The administration has taken 3-level security measures considering the safety of buyers, sellers and the general public in the market.Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin has called a preparatory meeting in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on May 20 to take decisions on the overall issue. The Deputy Commissioner said that decisions will be taken on the maintenance of law and order, market security, and overall issues of buyers and sellers on that day.District Livestock Officer Dr. Abdul Khalek said – Animal Test Medical Team will be present on behalf of the Animal Resources Department for testing animals for sacrifice in the Eid market. Special counterfeit note detection machines will be available in the market to detect counterfeit notes. A special police team will be deployed to stop the violence of the looters and ensure the overall security of buyers and sellers.Regarding security and general matters at the Qorban market, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said – Various instructions will be given to the Upazila Executive Officers on May 20 to prepare for various issues of the Qorban animal market. They will take measures as per the rules. In addition, measures will be taken to strengthen security in each market to prevent disruption to buyers and sellers. Necessary instructions will be given to the police so that the public can buy and sell animals without any problems. One police mobile team will work in each market, along with plainclothes and special police members will be deployed separately. The number of markets is 14 in Sadar, 13 in Ramu, 16 in Chakaria, 8 in Pekua, 8 in Ukhia, 7 in Teknaf, 6 in Maheshkhali, and 6 in Kutubdia. However, according to private accounts, the number of markets is more than a hundred.Meanwhile, although 14 sacrificial cattle markets have been leased in Sadar, according to the Animal Resources Office, only 7 are being held. Sales have already started in the markets. Myanmar cattle and buffaloes have been seen in abundance in many markets. The leaseholder said that cattle sales have increased in Kharulia market last Wednesday. That day, in addition to the regular market, there was a sacrificial cattle market. There are more than a thousand cattle and buffaloes in Kharulia market. Last year, the queue of cattle stretched for about half a kilometer along the road. This year, although there was a lot of cattle supply in the market, the price of medium-quality cattle is expected to be higher. Meanwhile, cattle sales may increase next week in almost all markets including Eidgaon market in Sadar, Jumchhari market in PMkhali, Kallghar market in Ramu, Katir Rasta market in Mithachari, Garjania market, Rumkhan market in Ukhia. Already, sellers have stocked a lot of domestic cattle in various markets. The markets are being redecorated for the general public.
