The 63rd commemoration meeting of Comrade Yakub Ali Bara Mia, who led the anti-British movement in Comilla’s Barura and the abolition of landlordism, the movement to liberate the people of this township from rural moneylender debt, was held at Barura Central Shaheed Minar.

Ahsan Ullah in the Chairmanship and Barura Upazila Workers Party General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bablu addressed the 63rd commemoration meeting of the National Farmers Union under the initiative of Comilla District Works Party Comilla Md. Ahsan Ullah at 3 pm on Saturday, February 11. Vice President Comrade Paresh Chandra Kar, Leader of Socialist Movement Comrade Nazim Ali, Barura Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Commander Md Abul Bashar, Chandpur District Communist Party Member Manisha, Comrade Karthik Debnath, Comilla District Communist Party Member Parimal Chandra Sheel, Md Humayun Kabir, Mohammad Atiq Ahmed, National Socialist Party Jasad Barura President Comrade Khizir Hayat, General Secretary Nazrul Islam Nazmul, Journalist Salil Ranjan Biswas and others.
The speakers in the memorial meeting said that Comrade Yakub Ali Bara Mia was born in a Muslim family in Galimpur village of Galimpur union of Barura police station. He led the anti-British movement and the movement to free the people of this township from the hands of rural moneylenders and uprooting the zamindar system. He not only gave leadership in this movement, he was a frontline fighter against the British partition of Bengal and India. Due to his vocal resistance against the communal riots that took place in Kolkata, Noakhali and Dhaka in 1946, no riots took place in Comilla district on that day. Provides shelter and assistance. He was the foremost leader of the Indian Communist movement under whose leadership thousands of people participated in this struggle. He spent a valuable time of his life, about 34 years in British and Pakistani prisons. He was one of those who participated in the freedom struggle and spent the longest time in prison. The 63rd death anniversary of this struggling Comrade Yakub Ali (Bar Miar) was last 23 January 2023.
