The police arrested 4 members of the human trafficking gang in a raid on the banks of Naf river in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district. At the same time, 19 Rohingya citizens of Myanmar including women and children were rescued. The arrested brokers are, Zahid (30), Jamal (38), Hajera (50). and Yunus (24). Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdul Halim said that last Friday (May 26) at 11:30 p.m., the operation was carried out in Naitong neighborhood on the banks of Naf River in Ward No. 1 of Teknaf Municipality. Among the rescued are 6 men, 6 women and 7 children. OC Abdul Halim said that last Friday night, the police received information that some women, men and children had been gathered by the members of the human trafficking gang in the residence of Amin Sharif in Naitong neighborhood on the banks of the Naf river in Teknaf municipality. A team conducted an operation there. 6 to 7 people started running away after realizing the presence of the police at the scene. At this time, 4 people were arrested after being chased. 19 Rohingya citizens of Myanmar who were gathered for the purpose of trafficking were rescued from the scene. The arrested human trafficking gang members are being interrogated. Regarding the rescued Rohingyas, action will be taken according to the instructions of the concerned administration. A case has been filed against the arrested persons under the relevant law at Teknaf Model Police Station.
