 Comillastha Barura Upazila Development Association honored 16 teachers of Comilla University. The award was given at the Comilla Club auditorium on Friday, July 28 at noon. At the same time, scholarships are given to the children of club members, poor and meritorious students. On this occasion, a meeting was held in the club premises.

Saiful Islam Senior vice president of the association MA Aziz, Mujibur Rahman, Naseeruddin, advisers Abdur Rauf Chowdhury and Abdul Mannan, mayor of Barura municipality Baktar Hossain, convenor of the celebration committee Mohammad Shahnur Alam, member secretary Aktaruzzaman Babu, organizing secretary of the association Zahid Hasan, and eminent doctors spoke. Dipankar Lodh, doctor Vasudev Das, honored teacher former proctor of Comilla University Mohammad Ainul Haque and current proctor Kazi Omar Siddiqui. Shahrasti Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) of Chandpur Mohammad Humayon Rashid was present in it. The program was conducted by the general secretary of the association Gaziul Haque Sohag.

Member of Parliament Naschimul Alam Chowdhury said on the occasion that many teachers of my constituency are working in Comilla University. It impressed me. Barura will move forward by holding their hands. Only they can light the light of knowledge. The 16 teachers honored are Mohammad Ainul Haque, Kazi Omar Siddiqui Hasan Hafizur Rahman, Fahmida Begum, Ferdous Jahan, Afrina Akhtar Mishu, Sumaiya Afrin Sani, Amena Begum, Kulchum Akhtar Sapna, Mahinur Akhtar, Maksudur Rahman, Arupa Sarkar, Machum Bilah, Nadia. Sarwar, Nahida Afroz and Md. Tofail Hossain Majumder. The chief guest handed over the crest to them.

Later, two sisters Khadija Akhter and Nusrat Jahan of Manoharpur village of Barura upazila of Comilla were given a scholarship of 10 thousand taka total 20 thousand taka for admission in the university. Khadija stood 48th in C Unit in Jahangirnagar University and Nusrat stood 1459th in Chittagong University. They received the late headmaster Chitta Ranjan Lodh merit scholarship. Besides, 35 member children of the association were also given scholarships. Five people have received merit scholarships for the poor and needy. They are given prize bonds and cheques. Life members, ordinary members, executive members, children of the advisory board of the association will also get this scholarship periodically.

Earlier, a group of students of Comilla’s Nawab Faizunnecha Government Girls’ High School performed the national anthem. The program begins with this. In the event, prayers were offered in memory of all the deceased members of Barura Samiti. This social, voluntary organization was established in 1990.
