Md. Aman Ullah:
The Coast Guard has arrested 10 smugglers along with 600 bags of urea fertilizer from a trawler while illegally smuggling it by sea to Myanmar.
This information was given at 2:30 pm on Friday by Lieutenant Commander HMM Harun-or-Rashid, the media officer of the Coast Guard Eastern Zone. The 10 smugglers arrested are residents of different areas of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong and Noakhali districts. Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid said that it is illegal for any trawler to be present in the sea as the fishing ban is in effect for 58 days. But on Thursday midnight, members of the Coast Guard ship Tajuddin saw a suspicious wooden fishing trawler in the deep sea off the coast of St. Martin in Teknaf. The Coast Guard members ordered the trawler to stop. But the people in the trawler tried to escape by driving at high speed. Later, the Coast Guard members were able to seize the trawler by chasing it.
